Rockstar Games has officially revealed a much broader picture of Grand Theft Auto VI’s world.
Following the release of Trailer 2, Rockstar expanded the official GTA VI website with detailed profiles for six major locations across the state of Leonida.
The newly detailed locations are Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Together, they confirm that GTA VI’s world extends far beyond the streets of Vice City and includes coastal communities, industrial zones, wetlands, rural areas and wilderness.
VICE CITY
Vice City remains the most recognizable location in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Rockstar presents the city as the heart of Leonida, filled with nightlife, beaches, luxury, crime, entertainment and excess.
The modern version of Vice City blends tropical scenery with dense urban districts, high-rise buildings, crowded beaches and a vibrant nightlife culture.
Trailer footage and official screenshots show a city packed with restaurants, clubs, hotels, apartments, highways and entertainment venues.
Vice City appears to be one of the central locations in Jason and Lucia’s story and a major hub for business, crime and culture throughout Leonida.
LEONIDA KEYS
The Leonida Keys represent the tropical island region south of Vice City.
Rockstar describes the area as relaxed and beautiful on the surface, but clearly connected to smuggling, crime and local operators.
Jason Duval is closely tied to this region through his work with Brian Heder.
The Keys are filled with waterways, bridges, boats and small communities.
Their setting gives GTA VI a very different atmosphere compared with the dense urban environment of Vice City.
PORT GELLHORN
Port Gellhorn is one of the rougher and more economically damaged parts of Leonida.
Rockstar presents the area as a former tourist destination that has seen better days.
Cheap motels, abandoned attractions, liquor stores and rundown businesses help define the location.
Despite its decline, Port Gellhorn remains active and dangerous.
The town gives GTA VI a grittier environment away from the wealth and glamour associated with Vice City.
AMBROSIA
Ambrosia is an industrial community connected to Leonida’s economy.
The region is home to major industrial operations and working-class communities.
Rockstar’s official material highlights the contrast between corporate power and the people living around it.
Ambrosia offers a very different visual identity from the tropical beaches and urban nightlife seen elsewhere in GTA VI.
Its factories, roads and industrial landscape reinforce the diversity of Leonida’s environments.
GRASSRIVERS
Grassrivers is Leonida’s vast wetland region.
The area is filled with swamps, wildlife, airboats and isolated waterways.
Rockstar makes clear that humans are not necessarily at the top of the food chain here.
Alligators and other wildlife appear throughout the region.
Grassrivers gives GTA VI a wilderness environment inspired by Florida’s famous wetlands.
The region also appears likely to connect multiple rural and coastal parts of the state.
MOUNT KALAGA NATIONAL PARK
Mount Kalaga National Park takes GTA VI far beyond the flat coastal landscapes associated with Vice City.
The park features forests, mountains and remote wilderness.
Rockstar presents it as a destination for outdoor activity, hunting, exploration and people looking to escape society.
Its inclusion demonstrates how geographically varied Leonida will be.
Mount Kalaga gives the game a large natural environment that contrasts sharply with Vice City, Port Gellhorn and the tropical Keys.
A MUCH LARGER WORLD THAN VICE CITY
The six official location profiles show that GTA VI is not simply a return to Vice City.
Vice City is one part of a much larger state.
The Leonida Keys provide a tropical coastal environment.
Port Gellhorn offers a declining tourist town with a criminal edge.
Ambrosia represents industry and working-class Leonida.
Grassrivers introduces vast wetlands and wildlife.
Mount Kalaga National Park provides forests and remote wilderness.
Together, these regions create a world with significantly different landscapes, communities and cultures.
ROCKSTAR’S VERSION OF LEONIDA
Rockstar first confirmed the state of Leonida with Trailer 1 in December 2023.
Trailer 2 and the expanded official website finally began to reveal how much variety exists beyond Vice City.
The official location profiles suggest that Jason and Lucia’s journey will take them through very different parts of the state.
From neon nightlife to isolated wetlands and mountain wilderness, Leonida is being presented as one of Rockstar’s most diverse open worlds.
The full map has not yet been officially revealed.
However, Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park are now officially confirmed parts of the GTA VI world.
