Grand Theft Auto VI has officially been delayed again.
On November 6, 2025, Rockstar Games announced that GTA VI would now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
The announcement moved the game approximately six months beyond its previously scheduled May 26, 2026 release date.
This marked the second major delay in GTA VI’s official release timeline.
THE NEW RELEASE DATE
Grand Theft Auto VI is now scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.
Rockstar confirmed the new date directly through the Rockstar Games Newswire.
The company apologized for extending what it acknowledged had already become a long wait for players.
WHY GTA VI WAS DELAYED AGAIN
Rockstar explained that the additional months would allow the development team to finish GTA VI with the level of polish players have come to expect from the studio.
The announcement did not identify a specific technical problem or development issue.
Instead, Rockstar framed the delay as additional time required to complete and refine the game before launch.

FROM 2025 TO NOVEMBER 2026
Grand Theft Auto VI was originally announced with a 2025 release window when Trailer 1 debuted in December 2023.
On May 2, 2025, Rockstar announced the first major delay and set May 26, 2026 as the new release date.
Six months later, Rockstar changed the schedule again.
The November 6 announcement moved GTA VI to November 19, 2026.
That means the game’s official release timeline has now progressed through three major stages:
2025 — Original launch window revealed with Trailer 1.
May 26, 2026 — First specific release date announced after the May 2025 delay.
November 19, 2026 — Second delay and current official release date.
LEONIDA AND VICE CITY
Despite the delay, Rockstar reiterated its excitement about players eventually experiencing the sprawling state of Leonida and returning to a modern-day Vice City.
The wording reinforces the scale of GTA VI’s world and Rockstar’s focus on delivering a highly polished version of its new open-world setting.
By the time of the November announcement, Rockstar had already revealed significantly more about Leonida through Trailer 2, official character profiles, location profiles and a large collection of screenshots and artwork.
CURRENT OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE
November 19, 2026 remains the official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI website currently lists the game as coming on that date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
As with any major game still in development, future plans could change, but November 19, 2026 is the current confirmed launch date from Rockstar Games.
